A Rough One

550.00

This is a magnificent pair of longhorns that were carried by an old bull. As a bull ages his horns do not grow much after about 5 years, but the bases of the horns get rougher as the animal adds what is called growth rings. This pair of longhorns had one of the roughest bases I've seen showing the age and adding a lot of  character. I wanted to leave the roughness at the base but also show the beautiful coloring of the solid black tips. To do that I polished the tips and polished less as I worked down the horn. The bases of the horn are just lightly sanded to remove the dirt and look as they did on the animal. Horns are placed hooked together in a way that accentuates the large curve in the horn.

Dimensions: 19" T x 22" W x 14" D
