The idea for creating sculptures using Longhorns came from years of working with horns and developing a deep appreciation for the material. The colors and shapes are like nothing else found in nature. Each piece is created to focus purely and simply on the beauty of the horn. While sorting through the hundreds of horns that I work with each year I set aside the ones with the most beautiful, interesting, and unique colors and shapes and those are what are used for the sculptures.

This pair of Longhorns has an amazing texture to them that I believe could only come from a lifetime of being scraped across barbwire. I have come across a couple of pair like this over the years, but they are rare. Almost every inch of these horns is covered in scratches, making them a great pair to be able to pick up, examine and enjoy. The dark tips of the horns have been lightly sanded to show their excellent dark coloring.
If you wanted to find some deep symbolism in an animal spending its life raking its horns over, barbed wire, a product that contributed to his ancestors, of the Texas Longhorn breed, almost going extinct, I suppose you could.
