The idea for creating sculptures using Longhorns came from years of working with horns and developing a deep appreciation for the material. The colors and shapes are like nothing else found in nature. Each piece is created to focus purely and simply on the beauty of the horn. While sorting through the hundreds of horns that I work with each year I set aside the ones with the most beautiful, interesting, and unique colors and shapes and those are what are used for the sculptures.

Flor de Cuerno (Flower of Horn). This is the second flower sculpture that I have created. It contains 32 Longhorns, 16 pairs. Each horn was carefully selected for color and shape. The horns are cut and placed to fit together and bloom outward from the wall. It is the largest, most time consuming project that I have completed and also the most rewarding. The original Flor de Cuerno now hangs in a clients luxury suite at the Texas Memorial Stadium, University of Texas at Austin.
